Presentation to Rotary Hunters Hill – Sydney 20 June 2012

“Health and healing in the Congo” was the topic of a special program about the Democratic Republic of Congo, made by Theophile Elongo to more than 50 Rotarian and community/business leaders in Hunters Hill NSW.

Theophile was joined by two Congolese health care professionals from HEAL Africa (, who were visiting Australia for the first time. They shared the story of a remarkable and innovative model for community-based health that works hand-in-hand with local communities and their cultures in Goma, eastern Congo. Theophile provided an overview of how Australian volunteers and government agencies work collaboratively to provide assistance to the hundreds of refugees who have fled the conflict zones of Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and the Congo for Australia’s safe haven.
